Today is a beautiful,bright and blue skies Wednesday. We had breakfast at 6:45 and by 7:45 we were on the road to Pompei. There is so much information given about Pompei I'll let u borrow the booklet they provide. Two important facts I remember most are 1. The people of Pompei died of suffocation and 2. Those figures you see are not actual bodies encased in lava but rather plaster representations made by pumping plaster into the hollow spaces they found when excavating. The body decomposed when surrounded by the lava which formed a mold to be filed.
After that hour and a half tour we went to lunch. A cute Italian place for the best of everything.... pasta, veal and potatoes and finally some creamed delightful pastries..
The 3 glasses of sparkling wine ...... Fabuloso .... And three glasses of water are now making us settle in for our 3 hour nap or I should say ride to Rome. We are on the autostrade and just 80 miles outside of Rome.
