Today we started out early for a full day. Up at 5:45 with breakfast at 6:45 and on the bus by 7:45. A lot of rock formations and very high in the mountains with fantastic rock formations which drop vertically into the sea. There is also sub-tropical vegetation on the hillsides . We stopped at the seaside cathedral town of Amalfi on the Bay of Salerno. We also went to Ravello, the terrace over the sea known for being an enchanting town.
We ate at a REAL Italian restaurant served up by the cooking Mama. The food was not like anything I ever tasted at Olive Garden. As usual the 3 courses was more than one would eat at home .
The drive up the sides of the mountain are u believable and the people who drive up it are even more phenomenal. Hard to picture a garbage truck going backwards around a curve on a street whose width is about One and a half car length. Yikes! Greater thrills than on a roller coaster.
The tour guide took us on her small unofficial tour of Sorrento to see the master craftsmanship of cameo making , pictures made of inlaid woods, hand-crafted. We also went for the best gelato and to the Lemoncello store where we tasted 3 varieties of Lemoncello liquor, candies filled with the same and cookies. A great time was had by all.... Hic cup!
Time to pack up and move onto Pompeii and Rome . Catch you later.
