Florence - Birthplace of the Renaissance

Day 10 Experiencing Florence

Another day up early and a good breakfast. We started out our day with a Art History lecture on what we would be seeing at the Florence's museums. The women who gave the lecture was a American that has been here teaching for the last 15 years. She is a teacher for Syracuse teaching students that are abroad for studies. After the lecture we went for our trip to the Accademia Gallery to see David. By arriving early we beat the crowds and got into the gallery right away.

After seeing David and paintings by many other artists, we did a walking tour through the heart of Florence. We continued to the Santa Croce district for lunch at the Finisterra Ristorante. The meal as usual was excellent.

After lunch Char and I took a Mimi tour of the Duomo church. We spent the rest of the afternoon touring shops and a local church across the street from our hotel. Traffic has been heavy here because this week there is a fashion convention in Florence. It has been real tough with all the models walking around. All day dressed to the hilt. (Both male and female) We are getting to see some of the latest Fashions with what they are wearing when they are walking around. Char thought she died and went to heaven when we went into a chocolate store that had a wall of flowing chocolate.

We just finished are day with dining in our hotel at the roof top restaurant, the food and wine was great along with the view.
